The role of bearing lubricants

To ensure the reliable operation of rolling bearings, adequate lubrication is necessary. Bearing lubrication methods are roughly divided into two types: grease lubrication and oil lubrication. How to give full play to the function of the bearing, the key is to use the appropriate lubrication method according to the conditions of use and purpose of use.

Grease consists of base oil, thickener and additives. Has the following characteristics:

1) The allowable speed is 65% to 80% of oil lubrication, and the sealing device of the sleeve structure can be simplified;

2) Less pollution caused by leakage;

3) Poor fluidity and relatively poor cooling effect;

4) Impurity filtering is difficult and lubricant replacement is slightly complicated.

5) When choosing grease, choose a grease that is very suitable for the conditions of bearing use.

Oil lubrication methods are:

Oil bath method, oil drop lubrication method, splash lubrication method, circulation lubrication method, jet lubrication method, spray lubrication method and oil-air lubrication method.

Has the following characteristics:

1) Suitable for high-speed and high-temperature occasions;

2) Good fluidity and heat dissipation;

3) The replacement is relatively simple, and the filtering of impurities is easy;

4) The sealing device of the shaft sleeve structure is a little complicated, and care should be taken for maintenance

5) In the case of oil lubrication, considering the operating temperature of the bearing, it is very important to select an appropriate viscosity lubricant. In general, the faster the speed, the more low-viscosity oil must be used, and the greater the load, the higher the viscosity of lubricating oil.

Lubricant replenishment and replacement

After the lubricant is used for a period of time, the characteristics will deteriorate and the lubricating function will be reduced. Therefore, it is necessary to replenish the lubricant in a timely manner. The interval between lubricant replenishment will vary depending on the form, size and speed of the bearing. When the bearing temperature exceeds 70°C, every time the bearing temperature rises by 15°C, the lubricant replenishment interval is reduced by half. The replacement period of lubricating oil varies depending on the usage conditions and the amount of oil. Under normal circumstances, it is replaced once a year when it is used in a good environment with an operating temperature of 50°C or less and less dust. When the oil temperature reaches 100°C, it needs to be replaced every 3 months or less. But usually in the process of use, because the use conditions of lubricants are more stringent, it is not recommended that customers replace or add lubricants by themselves.
